When can I arrive?

You can arrive from 3 pm (15:00) until late evening. We owners live on the other side of the road. Just let us know 20 minutes earlier with a call or message that you are here soon, and we will come to say hello for you. If we are not at home, you can go into the house and we will come to meet you, as soon as we arrive home.

When should I leave the house?

Until 11 am (11:00) you have time to leave the house.

Where can I park the car?

You can park your car right next to the entrace door, or everywhere around the house. There is a huge place with gravel.

Is there internet available?

There is fast internet in the whole house, what you can use for free. You will find the password on the paper what is on the table in the living room. There is also a huge tv, what is connected to the internet, so you can watch Netflix or Yotube as well.

Can I wash there my laundry?

There is a washing machine in the bathroom and a drying rack in the storage room. You can wash your laundry whenever you want. You will also find detergent in the batroom cabinet.

Can I cook there?

There is a fully equipped kitchen in the house. Water boiler, coffee machine, oven, dishwasher, fridge with freezer, stick mixer, all kind of bowls, dishes, cups, glasses, cutlery, knives, pots, pans, trays, cutting boards, tea towels, paper towel, gloves, thermoses. Tea, coffee, sugar, sweetener, milk powder, spices, oil, bombons are free for use.

Will I share with somebody the house?

You will have the whole house for yourself, and you will not share nothing with someone else. The house is far from another houses and there are trees everywhere around. You will not hear or see cars, other people. There is no light effect from cities, what is perfect for northern light watching.

Can I see northern lights here?

During the summer nights we have the midnight sun season, what means non stop light. The northern lights are visiable, when the sky is dark and clear (no clouds). When the nights are back, you can see the northern lights again. That means from end of September until mid April. The best months are for aurora borealis hunting October, February and March. This place is one of the best for those, who want to experience this beauty on the sky. Alta is called: the city of the northern lights. Here, where is located Oksfjordhjem, is no light pollution, so when you open the door to the terrace and the huge open space what opens in front of you gives the perfect possibility to watch the northern lights without going anywhere.

What is the best time to come here?

This is a very hard question. Almost impossible to answer for it. There is in every season soemthing special. Depends on that, what you would prefer to do. Read the activities, that could help for you to decide.

What brought us owners here?

There is very little snow in central Europe already. We wanted to move with our dogs to a place where there is still snow. We wanted to do what we love. To be in nature in a place that isn't crowded and you won't bump into someone non-stop, when you go hiking. We looked for place that would be the most suitable for us. That's how we found this place in 2024.

What is our goal?

Our goal is to show or make it possible for others to really connect to nature above the arctic circle and explore this beautiful place. The arctic is special. The sky is the most beautiful here. Those colours on the sky here what you can see, you could never imagine. There is snow, but there is also summer. Lapland is the last wilderness in Europe and gives something, what brings you more close to life close to nature.

Is this Lapland?

Lapland stretches around the Arctic Circle in the northern part of Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Although the Finnish Lapland is the most well-known and people incorrectly know that only it is Lapland. Oksfjordhjem is located in the Norwegian Lapland, what means forests, valleys, mountains, fjords, lakes, rivers.

Can I come with my dog?

Our accomoditation is absolutely pet friendly. The pets are welcome and free of charge. Perfect place for those who wants to go from the door for walking, hiking, to go to the beach (what takes only few minutes) with dogs. Also we have here beautiful trails for bikejöring (we rent out bicycle with bike antenna), scootering, canicross with by crossing rivers, small waterfalls, pine tree forest... We provides dogbed and pots, when you need it.

How can book, rent and pay?

You can write a request for booking the accomoditation on our booking page. Than we will write for you back an e-mail with the answer the house is available for that day or already booked. If it is available, we will send for you an e-mail about the details.

You can hire different kind of equipment from us. You can do this personally, when you are here. In this case you can pay with bank card, we have a card reader. See the list of rental equipment here.

You can book and pay for short tours of no longer than one day personally by bank card. Longer multi-day trips, such as the adventure family week or a week-long dogsledding trip, must be booked online here: adventure family week, week-long dogsledding. When you send your booking request, we will send you an email with the details. You will receive an invoice based on which you can transfer the price of the tour. You will find more details in terms and conditions.
